The DC Universe Online team has announced the pre-order bonuses and pre-order collector's edition bonuses. The bonus available depends on which retail outlet the game is purchased from. Bonuses are also the same regardless of whether purchased for PC-DVD or PS3, though 2 outlets are carrying only one or the other. At this point, the only announced bonuses are for retail outlets in the US and one retail outlet in Canada. European locales have yet to be announced.

Hot off the virtual presses, SOE just sent out this pretty slick new trailer for DC Universe Online in celebration of their presense at this years Gamescom. While most of the press up until now has been how you can play iconic characters from the DC err...universe, this particular video focuses instead on who you can rise to become as a custom character within this world. There's a lot to love with DCUO, particularly the powersets. Watch for the frame of a guy launching his party member off a building while they're encased in a protective bubble. It's these sorts of things you really haven't been able to do in other games. I for one am more of a Marvel girl, but after spending some time playing DCUO and seeing trailers like this, I just might have to reevaluate my choice of side. Can one be a Marvel comic person but a DC gaming person? Something tells me, I'm about to find out.
from shu:have to say the trailer is pretty well done.might consider testing this game ^^

OMG It's JIM LEE!
He's my favorite western comic artist of all time, i actually grew up mimicking his art style while reading both X-men (he starting Drawing X-men after Uncanny series ended) and his Wild-Cats series, i remember sort of getting good at drawing in that particular style. (fine-line/cross-hatch shading techniques, which is what Jim Lee is very well known for)

SOE released a new video for DC Universe Online featuring combat from the current beta. The intense combat scenes across city streets really drives home the over the top visual quality to battle we expect for something based in the realm of comics. While I concern myself with being able to keep track of things as all these flashing lights, whizzing speed demons, and explosive blows goes on, I know it can be no other way. Back in September Chris Cao posted a video talking about a recent game session members of the development team had participated in with Jim Lee. He excitedly recanted the small details of the story taking place in this raid situation and how quickly things unfolded into an onscreen action movie. With characters running up walls at super speed, debris flying about, and characters performing incredible feats. While the gameplay trailer doesn’t show how epic we can become, seeing how crazy these battles get is exciting. At one point a good friend of mine had complained that a MMO we were playing made ever move you preformed look epic. With lightening arching from your weapon as you jumped in the air to fight or how a simple shield spell summoned all sorts of over the top particle effects. DCUO is delivering these visuals, but without them I don’t think our super heroes would be so “super”. Particle effects are flying about, debris is swirling around, and players are whizzing between combats. This is what super hero battles are. If it broke done to something more along the lines of, stay in your place and don’t move combat, things would become very boring quickly. For me comic book battles are about action, they are dynamic, which I know is contrary to the format. Still this is something that comics have always done and I am glad to see DCUO carrying on the tradition.
from shu:not very spectacular but have to test before further comment heh

Ive tested this at New york Comic con earlier this weekend , it does seem like an amazing game , the physx are something absolutely new and quick. the gameplay is not slow but very moderate and quick game response. Its an Action RPG basically , dungeon based , they didnt give us much info on the PVP system but mostly on solo gameplay with keyboard/mouse or PS3 controller.
The game has been delayed either way from November 2010 to Early 2011 in hope of enhancing the PvP System and a better Engine which will enhance and qualify the game Physx.

This game is gonna force a player to choose being Good or Evil to save the world from a common threat: invasion from outer space. I predict future expansions will introduce new types of 'common threat' too.
Assuming if this was an mmo u liked to try, anyone here has preferences to being Good/Evil?
I prefer Marvel comics so I don't really have any character preferences here. ^_^

I'm gonna go with good...as soon as I finish my last final that starts in 7 mins XD
The game is about 13 GB btw, it doesn't take long though cause the preset is nom-noming all your bandwidth =p
Okay, so I've played for about an hour...partly because the camera is annoying. It's adjusted by moving your mouse, moves not nearly as quick as I think it should in order to enjoy playing, and I didn't see any options to increase mouse sensitivity...
Other than that, the game is beautiful ^^, there's a great variety of movement styles, powers and costumes, good stoyline AND you get to fight side-by-side with Superman XD
DCUO has the potential to be an enjoyable game...but they really need to fix the camera options, I'm going to try to tweak it a bit more now..

I gave this a shot thanks to Facade's post today. A huge update indeed. Tried it for a short while and here is my early opinion.
Character creation The character building menus felt like a Starcraft 2 style guided tour. The customisable range of weapons, abilities, character built and appearance (especially colors) is nothing short of impressive. The amount of freedom literally inspires a player to go all out with designing an alter ego of their imagination. Certain weapon choices are fast but weak while others are slow but deadly.
Gameplay Once you are done with character creation, the story throws you straight into fast paced combat action with control tips flashing every step of the way. The game feels like a cross between Prototype, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Transformers: War for Cybertron. Leveling progression is moderate with skill and power points to assign of your choosing in their respective tech tree.
Graphics Using DirectX9, the environment itself has lots of objects and landmarks that are either destructible or interactive in nature. Character equipped items are clearly displayed to mark differences. You can also opt to disable their change to your appearances in every part of the body if you desire. The special effects seem to run pretty smooth despite the fast paced combat - I did not lag at all. The only bad point i see - camera panning can be slight problem at certain locations during combat for characters that love to fly or climb.
Sound The music seems quite decent. Some of the battle themes set the mood rather well. The crazy explosions, weapon wings and energy blasts seem rather ridiculous but not surprising for a comic themed game...
Questing The sandbox world of DC universe is huge in every direction, both high above the skies and deep below the ground... yet the map has a waypoint system to keep you well informed. There are battlezones all where enemy/ally characters seems to be constantly pushing for area control. Mob respawning is quick. Quests are either initiated by zone entry, NPCs or challenge markers. Rewards for some quests vary according to results achieved.
Features I've yet to test In-game chat system - it looks like Windows Live Chat's mutli tab feature but I did not make use of it. In-game email system PvP system Death Penatly Raids & Boss Fights
Initial verdict: An mmo like this come once every 5 years. This game will achieve very high ratings in months to come imo. The only bad point to this game: not all players would like fast action. If you don't like sandbox action games like the ones I mentioned, then stay away from this title.

cant get keys from fileplanet so i will just wait and see reviews.
need to know factors such as playability on long run.
pvp reviews and what end game content it have for dc universe.
fast pace actions usually have 2 factors that concern me.
the lag factor which can only be tested when have large numbers of players and
how they set the controls.if it turn out too complicated it wont work out also.
so does technically say if u are fast with controls can u win against opponent much higher level and rank then u or is it still level based to most degree and u need to be close to around same level before u can have a even fight?
will be interesting to see u guys playing this heh.i am not too fond of comics mmo and its not my ideal pvp setting world but will keep a watch for this ^^

I had problems registering for beta key using Firefox. I used IE instead. Chrome should be ok.
Playability - on long run depends on the what content DC comics allows. So far Metropolis, Arhkam Asylum, Gotham city, Smallville and JLA Watchtower space station are among those featured in the game setting. If the future is anything I predict, they might add more locations like Themyscira, Tartarus or even another planet such as New Genesis and Apokolips.
I tried 4vs4 PvP battles today without a hitch. But have to agree, the lag factor still seems hard to test right now.
About PvP Outside of simulated battles, superhero and villain players are hostile by default to each other. Engage on sight is the rule. At least in PvP server (I did not try PvE server). Found a bad point to PvP combat for this. Random engagements often turn out poor because the opponent can easily flee by dashing off or flying away. Pursuing them becomes a pain, especially when they flee into friendly zones. As a result, I'm forced to save any stun-locking abilities during combat to prevent this nonsense. PvP activity is still encouraged as the mmo has a second type of currency, PvP cash, which is needed to purchase exclusive items at higher levels.
Controls Weapon skills attained are executed by a combination of clicking or holding the mouse buttons (eg. clicking 5 times in rapid succession = area sweeping attack). Abilities attained are activated from assigned number hotkeys (eg. pressing 6 to summon a combat drone for Batman). Movement follows the standard ASWD+space for running and jumping. A toggle mode allows use of flight/acrobat/superspeed movements - a bit annoying when I encounter hostile players who love to snipe people from the sky.

PvP cash is earned only from PvP arenas battles from what i see. Random pk or duels do not count. It is fair too as the open world maps are not proper battlegrounds.
