Dungeons & Dragons Online Goes Free to Play Model

Well I have been testing out different classes in this week and seen a small part of the game and I can honestly say it's worth our time and effort. It's focussed solely on groups. Soloing is near impossible.

At the start melee classes can totally rape everything on their own but starting from around level 5 you need mages and clerics. The reason is because mobs will start throwing spells at you, like grease and web, and without a mage or cleric your fighter will be totally useless since he has no way to defend himself from those effects. I can only imagine that it will get harder and harder to solo later on.

I'm willing to play this game seriously and pay for it, atleast till Aion comes out and maybe even longer, but we need a group of around 4-5 people who are willing to play otherwise it would get very tricky to level up.

Classes absolutely needed in a succesful party:

Wizard/Sorcerer - With a focus on crowd control and damage spells like Charm, Web, Hypnotism, Hold Monster, Create undead, Horror Wilting, Incendary Cloud and more.

Cleric/Paladin - With a focus on Healing/Tanking, Turn Undead and Buffing. There are a lot of Undeads in this game and having a Cleric or Paladin just rapes them all in 1 hit. Especially on quests where you face a legion of over twenty skeletons a Cleric or Paladin can kill them all in 1 hit. Paladins are more combat oriented in terms of tanking while Clerics have more spells at their disposal.

Monk/Barbarian/Fighter - Pure strength damage to kill mobs very fast. Front row melee fighters are very OP in terms of raw attack power, especially on the lower levels. On higher levels they still have that incredible damage potential only they lack the ability to control the crowd or heal themselves. Monk can evade more hits and use all kinds of special skills, even a small self heal, but do less damage, Fighters are very balanced in terms of attack/defense and Barbarians have the highest damage output of the melee classes.

Rogue - Disarming traps, opening locks and spotting hidden doors. Traps do massive damage later on and are more dangerous then the mobs you'll face. To get good loot, experience and equipment, you need a Rogue since every worthwhile treasure chest or boss is hidden behind either a locked door, hidden door or a trap filled room.

So if we get enough people for this game we could start playing it seriously for atleast a while. I'm most likely rolling a Sorcerer/Wizard and so far only Snow showed any interest in this game. So I'm curious if any other Aetherius member is going to try it.

You're not useless q_q You just are a jack of all trades. You can cast magic for crowd control, do melee damage, cast healing spells, cast buffs, tank a bit, spot hidden doors and more. Only you're a jack of all trades, master of none. Though a dual wielding finesse Ranger is quite strong though because of all the free dual wielding feats rangers get :yersh:

~New Plan~

After I realised that we won't be able to play as a guild the way we were now, I decided that the best sollution is to merge with a bit bigger guild.

We will be able to find parties easier.
Have a player base to ask questions to.
Will be able to play at a speed that you like yourself.
And still be together in the guild.

If we want to keep it still quite small, my plan was to merge with "Just A Guild" guild.

If you guys don't agree with this let me know.

Merging seems like a great idea to me especially considering there are only 3 or so people playing this game which is not enough to form parties all day long. Problem is I never heard of that guild though. My 2 cents would go with joining a guild like http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=173265 so that are sure that we have a guild that really stays in the game.

We just have to look which guild suits us best in terms of gamestyle.
