With recent events like GDC and New York Comic Con spurring on interest in Snail Games’ upcoming free-to-play MMORPG,
Age of Wushu,
the developers have decided to extend a promotional offer for the
game’s Elite Edition presale package, giving more gamers a chance to
score some sweet in-game items at a discount in preparation for the
early 2013 launch.
“A large portion of the new publicity we received during each show
[GDC/NYCC] was through word of mouth,” said Snail Games’ EVP of
Marketing, Dick Roberts. “We want to give new fans a chance to take
advantage of the Elite Edition’s rock-bottom price.”
Like most free-to-play games,
Age of Wushu will be free at its
core, but offer cosmetic items, buffs, potions and additional content at
a price. For those who are ready to drop a little cash in advance, the
Elite Edition nets you a whole bunch of goodies for $9.99. The promotion
now runs until Nov. 4, so you still need to act kind of quickly if this
is something you want to take advantage of.
So what do you get for your 10 bucks? The game, for starters. But that’s
going to be free for everyone. What everyone won’t have access to,
though, are the slew of perks being offered in the Elite Edition.
Picking that up will guarantee you access to both of the games closed
betas, the first of which begins shortly after the Nov. 14 promotional
deadline. You’ll also have access to a special Exclusive Access Period,
giving you a 90-day head start on the full game before the free-to-play
crowd joins in. You’ll also get special items like a limited edition
mount and virtual vanity gear, as well as a stock of healing potions,
power-ups, etc.
If cruising around a massive fantasy world as a member of one of eight
unique martial arts schools and kicking butt sounds like a good time,
then
Age of Wushu might be just what the doctor ordered. You can find more details and purchase the Elite Edition at the game’s
official website.
