Sony-owned Naughty Dog is developing a new action game called The Last of Us, the company revealed Saturday.
The title is the latest to come from the Santa Monica-based studio, which is primarily known for its Uncharted franchise.
According to Sony, the title promises "a genre-defining experience that
blends survival and action elements." The plot centers around two
protagonists surviving in a world where the human population has been
decimated by a plague.
The game will be directed by studio veteran Bruce Straley, who also oversaw 2009's Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
Naughty Dog's latest, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, is one of Sony's biggest cash cows this holiday season. The game shipped 3.8 million units worldwide during its November debut, putting it on track to be the highest-selling entry in the trilogy.
The Last of Us will be exclusive to the PlayStation 3. A trailer for the game is available on its newly-launched website.
