| Subject: Authenticator Protected WoW Accounts Hacked Wed Mar 03, 2010 3:55 am | |
| World of Warcraft players should be careful of a new Trojan that’s been circulating around the Internet capable of hacking an Authenticator protected account. A blue confirmed the problem: After looking into this, it has been escalated, but it is a Man in the Middle attack.

This is still perpetrated by key loggers, and no method is always 100% secure.
What happens is, when you log into your WoW account, the game will ask you for your authenticator code. When you enter it, the virus will intercept it and send it to another server, sending Blizzard a fake code instead, resulting in an error message on your side. The people behind the virus then have one minute to log into your account using the stolen code to steal your epix. If you’re worried that you might be infected, search your computer for this file: emcor.dll Obviously, don’t log on until you’re sure the file is gone, and regularly update your anti-virus to check for key loggers. | |
