The predecessors of
GNO3, GNO and GNO2, were both based on the anime
Mobile Suit Gundam which depicts a one-year war. In this new sequel,
this background remains. However, the timelines of Mobile Suit Z Gundam
were added as well, depicting a fierce battle between three forces.
According to the source, the closed beta of Gundam Network
Operation3 (GNO), the Gundam themed strategic MMOPRG, was completed on
25th Dec. on Japanese servers.
GNO3, the sequel of GNO2 which commenced operation in April 2002,
not only inherits the one-year war but also includes the timelines of
Mobile Suit Z Gundam, vividly presenting players with a struggle
between three forces. More exciting stories, such as Gundam Z, Gundam:
Char's Counter Attack and Universal Century will follow after GNO3 is
officially released this winter.
The most distinguished feature of GNO3 is that even if a player is
not online, the war can carry on as planned. All you have to do is to
take ten minutes every day to give orders, which will all be
automatically executed, eliminating the need for waiting online.
Here are some of the comments from the players who took part in the
closed beta:
After entering the game, players can choose the faction between
Federation and Zeon. As the real time goes by, Gundam will enter Zeta
Gundam. Units are customized based on the mobile suits from Gundam and
some special units can only be created under specific forces.
When in battle, players can choose between 2D or 3D battlefield,
which wins players' applause. The screen can be switched between
full-screen or lower-right mini-screen mode. The formation of the team,
which can be changed during the battle, however, is only applicable to
the next battle. The battle can continue on its own even when the
player is not online, which means, players should spend at least ten
minutes every day giving orders to units and making adjustments.
Players are allowed to adventure the missions hand in hand with
players of the same force. However, if you abort the mission before it
starts, you will be banned from accepting other missions within 5
minutes, which most players find very unpleasant. Even if you have
aborted the mission, it will carry on anyway but the reward points and
the odds to win will differ.
Since the game uses real world time so it's possible that a newly
registered player may get into Zeta Gundam directly. The data of GNO2,
or more specifically, the data of battle points that can be traded for
unit components in GNO3, can be imported given that the force is the
same.
Pros:Able to create, research or alter components
2D or 3D battlefield optional
Able to choose different factions
Passively engage in the battle even the mission is aborted
Team formation changeable during battle
Cons:Not a F2P game….
5-minute penalty for aborting the mission
Difficult to know battle details
Other features:Uses real-world time
Data importable from GNO2
Faction-specific units
