Big chance to be the best free mmo released if they don't mess up.

Yeah it's aiming at being the best f2p mmo so far.... Just hope the pvp is as good as the pve.
I am looking forward to team pvp, battlegrounds, guild vs guild, and of course server vs server... If the pvp is decent, this game will blow away every other free mmo away. Including p2p games like WoW/guild wars. And it can compete with the new upcoming p2p mmos.

It all depends on the pvp now...

It won't blow away WoW , if you've seen whats in the new expansion. New battlegorunds with siege weapons, vehicles(planes, siege engines etc.), ahievement system, and REAL STORYLINE (like ur progressing trough story and the world around you evolves , meaning other players who are behind u in the story will be in a different version of the same world , and all who are in your place of the story will be in the one your are , and all of this wont affect pvp offc ) and so much more , WoW can't be killed by whatever, especialy by RoM, all RoM can do is win over the f2p market but I ain't sure if itll accomplish even that seeing the other next gen of f2p mmos

I'm not talking about the new expansion of wow. I'm talking about the WoW i played. I don't keep up with new stuff about WoW, lost interest in it when i quit. otherwise i'd still be there lol

If this game's pvp is decent, it will beat the original wow, and the bloof elf expansion.
I just hope the pvp lives up to the hype.Well ok... not just pvp...

This game needs 2 more things, 1 is pvp to kick ass, and raid boss kills. Both features still not shown in CB.

World evolving around as u advance in story line? That sounds cool, but it is not very realistic cause 2 players in same world dont know of each other cause they are not in same lvl of story line. So they are playing in same world but lots of different dimensions and at the end they are all together.

I would like to see in mmo daily (not so possible) or weekly (possible) or monthly (most games would choose this) big story quest that change the world around u even you dont participate in that quest, so you have one chance to be in that quest and to finish it, and that quest change flora and fauna around u, like meteor crash and some strange creatures lurkin around it and you need to kill em and it burns the forest and it stays burned after the quest or town crashed by invasion and it stay crashed and then slowly it is rebuild even better then before, or somethin like that.

That would be even cooler. That is what I call event. Maybe some games have somethin like that but I didnt play em.

    WoW can't be killed :D
WoW has the adventage of having years to debug their game, and years of working on the same game.
For example, WAR is a better game then how WoW was released for sure, but it is not better then how WoW is right now. WAR is full of bugs, tons of content that still has to come and not in game yet, while WoW is done with their tons of additional content already, and only keep adding more.
Only thing why most old WoW players don't come back to it is because they have seen all the stuff from the version that they played, and when coming back after a big expansion you have played half of the game already, and expansions are not your equips friendly, meaning each expansion you can throw your old gear away, even tho you had to spend hours getting it and have to start spend tons of hours in getting all the new equips.

Only way to kill WoW is to make new WoW with next gen content, and having it debugged from the start and having insane ammount of content from the start.

But as for RoM it has it all to beat all currently existing free to play mmos as long as they don't screw up on the debugging, translating and the pvp part, and don't screw up the classes with weird nerfs that totally make a class usless just because it could beat another class in one of the aspects.

    Well i disagree Snowflake.

For instance WoW is set up for a PVE System. Sooner or later all the hardcore people are going to get bored because they are going to get tired of the direction the game is going in. That is very Casual. WoW is going to be casual game not for hardcore mmo players.

On the other hand, WAR is set up all around PVP something that WoW can not do unless they change their whole game. So its a split community imo.

uhh, let me put it like this, WAR = WoW Battlegrounds only more, that's 70% of WAR, so basicaly WAR is just a part of WoW but made bigger.

Also with the upcoming huge patch WoW beats all the previous standards of the battlegrounds, with siegengines, flying etc.

This basicaly means WoW beats WAR even in the part that WAR is specialising itself in.

While the PvE of WoW was practicaly unbeatable already, and PvE in WAR ain't that great besides the PQ's pretty much.

Only 3 adventages of WAR are that you are in a Battleground everywhere you go, but on a WoW pvp server even that isn't far off from the same feeling.

And then the real adventage of WAR which DOES beat WoW is the equips, although, on the order side (I play a female Witch Hunter the armor/weapon looks were kinda sad untill my newest set at lvl 24 (Myhyme blue set)) The game is more evolved arround your skill with your character, then which gear you have, sure gear matters but a lot less then in WoW, and everyone can get the best gear by pvping all the way up to the highest renown ranks + the fact that you can participate in pvp from lvl 1, because in rvr areas and scenarios your rank, stats, and skill lvls are set to a high lvl of the tier where you belong.

But uhm, this is not enough to BEAT WoW, just steal some of their customers, and mainly the old ones that had quit for other reasons, not to playe WAR.

Couldn't agree more Snow , and tbh I'm planning on playing WoW again when WotLK comes with few friends , I still have my lvl 70 mage so Ima play again , mainly for the storyline that will be there . I mean as the horde you help Sylvanas claim Undercity back, you escort Sylvanas herself in the undercity fighting besides her and in the end Sylvanas and Thrall face King Wrynn and Jainna who were fighting they're way in Undercity from the other side, I think Varimathras dies and stuff , its gonna be so cool. And not to mention achievements system and the new battlegrounds.

WAR = WoW Battlegrounds only more, that's 70% of WAR

WoW Battlegrounds dont come close to WAR's pvp. WoW is a PVE game.

There is no way WAR is going to kill off WoW, but WoW is going to kill off WoW

I pretty much laugh at WoW pvp even if it takes keep sieges and city seiges from WAR, the main thing that makes WAR pvp/rvr so great is it doesn't have TOM CHILTON as a dev.

For those who don't know who Tom Chilton is, Chilton is the LD (lead designer) of WoW and is in charge of game systems, game balance, character classes, combat, items, pvp, auctions, mail system, and world events.Chilton is known to have distaste full ideas which the WoW community has shaken their fist at for the past few years from classes being "flavor of the month"(actually Warriors,Rogues and Druids have been top dogs in pvp/arena ever since BC started),having failed attempt after failed attempt at trying to improve world pvp which so far hes 0/3 at trying to revive world pvp and the god forsaken epeen sport known as arena which is gonna be even worse in Wotlk.

Yes i have seen the new bgs looks like someone is scared of WAR

Actually, we have been discussing new battlegrounds quite a bit lately. Wrath of the Lich King will feature Strand of the Ancients (attack/defend) as well as Wintergrasp (non-instanced, world PvP).

But past that, we are exploring ideas that would involve expanding our Battleground content in future patches and beyond. We believe we have some strong ideas for improving Battlegrounds and PvP as a whole in the game and we're definitely going to focus on improvements in the future. Now, it's very early to be talking about some of this stuff but I think it's important for the community to know that it's on our minds.

Our general thought is that we could provide more BG content over time. The BG content that we could provide could be of higher quality with a higher degree of accessibility. Overall, we'd like to have more content and variety. We also want the gameplay experience in the BGs to be better directed. We're also exploring the concept of a complimentary "competitive" bg system as well. Over time, we'd like the focus of PvP to shift back to being more BG-centric and more focused on Horde versus Alliance -- the core of our game.

We're also planning on improving some Battleground and PvP features in general. For example, we want to give you the ability to queue for Battlegrounds from anywhere in the world. We're also going to explore EXP gain through the PvP system as well as low level itemization to support that.

Please don't take this post as a promise. This won't be an overnight process. Not all of these things are set in stone and guaranteed to happen. It would take us a while to shift in this direction. But these are some of the current thoughts on the development team. I think it's important for you guys to know some of our thought process in regards to PvP.

In WoW you either queue up for the same BG's you've been playing for 2-3 YEARS or your hump a pillar in a pillbox against cookie-cutter spec's. And all the while, since there's no collision in that game, you might as well be a ghost.

I could and would never go back to that. I only played it (and, yes, enjoyed it) back in the day, because WoW was only mmo rpg pvp game in town besides Lineage 2 (which is a whole other story, and yes I did play L2 for over a year). I don't mention GW because, for whatever reason, GW never really 'captured' my imagination.

After all having played WoW since its launch I have never seen Blizzard decide to try and implement so many things from one other MMO. Some of it WoW really needs though. New battlegrounds are a good idea, and it really is a no brainer that queing anywhere in the world makes battlegrounds/arenas much more convenient especially if a player intends to try and farm during the downtime of games. Somehow I doubt blizzard would ever implement giving exp from PVP, I don't think it would work well with their system, however at least putting it up on the table for the time being is a good idea for their fans. We will see what happens, Mythic has plenty of work to do atm anyways, and if the two companies end up competing it will probably be better for everyone.

Tbh I'm playing WoW more for the PvE, and I very much enjoy it with good friends ( and thats what you need to enjoy it the most believe me) , WoW's PvP is just something to pass time with when I don't have raid or anything else to do,or if its raining outside and I don't wanna go out and tbh I'm enjoying it and as I said Im expecting WotLK the most cause of its storyline and how the world will evolve around you with the story.
