Dear Asgardians,

Ragnarok Online 2 was scheduled to kick start its Open Beta on 27th December 2012. However, due to overwhelming response from players, we experienced staggeringly high traffic that resulted in severe website and server congestion. Subsequently, many players were regretfully unable to access the game.

We are truly and deeply apologetic to each and every one of you for the various problems that many of you have faced during the start of Open Beta, especially to our players who were not able to enter the game at all. We know that you have set aside time and effort to join us, and we apologise that our issues prevented many of you from doing so.

We have been listening intently to all your feedback and are committed to resolving all these issues to get the game back up and running smoothly. However, in order for us to do this, we have to reschedule Open Beta to 3rd January 2013 and we have to wipe all character data accumulated from 27th December 2012 to 3rd January 2013, before the game servers reopen for a fresh start.

We know that this decision will anger and upset many of our treasured players, and while we earnestly wish to cater to every single player’s wants and needs, our top priority remains in stabilising the game servers so that all Asgardians can enjoy it, and being as fair as possible to the majority of our players who were not at all able to access Open Beta on 27th December 2012. We seek your rational understanding of our very difficult decision and hope that you will accept our gravest apologies.

From today until 3rd January 2013, we will be performing occasional stress tests on the game servers and the game will be open sporadically for players to enter. Even though the data will be wiped, you will be playing an important part of supporting and helping us prepare Open Beta by joining us in these stress tests when you are able to. For that, we sincerely thank you in advance.

We wish you all a Happy New Year as we express our gratitude towards your understanding, patience and kindness during this period. Thank you and see you in January!

3rd of January, will be a lot less people since school term already started.

Frankly, i was actually expecting something like this; i mean it's the Ragnarok franchise.

This is just a theory on mine, but i believe the main reason why they may have not been properly prepared for this was due to how they went about their advertising campaigns and misinterpreted player-base numbers.

During the week of closed beta, the Forum for Ragnarok was at low to moderated numbers, they did hold this odd type of facebook "likes" campaign in hopes of getting more player numbers and that didn't work out too well, as they only received 18-19k likes the last time i checked. (their goal was 150k likes) -this may have been someone's clever idea in perhaps gauging the actual player-base before hand? I don't know.

They also did not use a lot of popular gaming venues to advertise, probably because it is SEA and they usually don't purchase advertising time from places like ZAM, MMORPG, Massively, GameSpot, etc.

Then finally they decided at the last minute, to hold the "Free in-game cash" campaign on facebook, which really got a huge response in a short amount of time, and perhaps they weren't looking at their numbers as closely as they should have or not at all, so this alone just showed how unprepared they really were for the amount of players that were about to log in.

So i will be quite honest and blunt about this, after experiencing all this and reading a lot of post's from SEA players that come off very "Anti-American/European/Australian/Etc." I really can not wait until a North American/European localization of Ragnarok Online 2 comes out, because i am having a hard time ignoring all the racist comments from a few of those disgruntled SEA players.

And PH is not in SEA i think? is it?

I'm pretty sure the pinoys are considered part of SEA, hehe.

The website was down last night, I'll try again to see if it is up.

EDIT: yeah the website is a mess right now, i can't really navigate to where i need to go due to all the page errors they are having right now.

EDIT2: what i will do is wait a good week or so after the 3rd to top up using my Pin/Serial ID, unless by some miracle the website stabilizes before then.

Guys, it's a SEA server.
This is how things always go with SEA servers, especially when they r the 1st to open an English version.

Nothing new and nothing changed since 10+ years ago.

Companies like ArenaNet just spoil us by delivering awesome service and super smooth launch for millions of players.

SEA companies come in at work last day before launch after playing some games 24/7 past weeks (grinding/botting in game gold as a side job maybe?), then push through all the work that should have been done months ago in that last day.
Then press start button and hope for the best.
