The way Mike described this part: - Quote :
- We also like the tradability of gems and gold because it makes the rest of the game’s economy more compelling. We’ll have a player-to-player Trading Post in the game—it’s like an auction house but better—which we’ll discuss in an upcoming blog post. Because gems can be traded for gold and vice versa, we don’t need two different trading systems, one for gold and one for gems. In Guild Wars 2, everything on the Trading Post is traded for gold, but of course, somebody who wants to earn gems can just sell items for gold, and then convert the gold to gems.
It really sounds like when i am reading that that the player-base may be in control of that via the trading post, but i don't know; i guess we will see later on either during one of the Beta weekends or on the blog post regarding the Trading Post
I sort of have a "love-hate" feeling when it comes to a possible player controlled currency-to-currency Ratio, on one hand i love how they give the player community the freedom and liberties to decide how much a Gem could be worth, on the other hand, i don't exactly have 100% faith in every single player to be reasonable and responsible enough to keep a trade-able currency inside a normal market margin.
So in a way i hope ArenaNet meets the player market half-way and does decide to set a type of limiting control on how much the currency can be set from High to Low bidding. | |
