Oh Blizzard, did you think you were the only company looking at kung-fu pandas for inspiration? Sorry to tell you, but panda fever is sweeping the globe, and Frogster's upcoming Eligium is going to cash in on that craze like nobody's business.
Today Eligium launched its official website, replete with a beta signup form, videos, screenshots, and forums. On top of that, Frogster announced two of the fantasy free-to-play MMO's races: Pandas and Elves.
The Pandas are described as "masters of the martial arts" as they harness their chi to unleash it on their enemies. At level 15, Panda players can choose between two skill specializations, including Fire Breather. The Elves, on the other hand, fit more into standard fantasy tropes, being experts at archery and trees. The race will eventually segregate into either a defensive or long-range attack skillset.
You can take a gander at Eligium's goodies and sign up for the closed beta over on the official site.

The Pandarians are from Warcraft 3, and i guess it took a WoW expansion announcement to get another company to jump on the bandwagon, that and a Dreamworks Animated movie with a fung fu panda.

hehe neo.not really i think.this company who made eligium is a chinese company.and panda is their national treasure afterall.good ideas often seem to collide together and happen around the same time heh.
blizzard have a known history for collecting good features from other mmo(everquest for example)and poll them together,i think its a good thing cos it smart to take things that works and apply it.however due to WoW being so popular it end up other games being accuse of being wow clone instead lol
u forget the panda class warrior from perfect world hehe, that was the first panda that came to my mind when i read this haha.

The skill system worries me though, if this game has bots then this game will be screwed. Because the more you use it the better it gets and if you dont use it its going to be weak. Sounds alot like cabal online =/

Haha, well that's true; i guess everyone is inspired by something whether it's East or West, i just wish people wouldn't go out of their way to compare things, i really dislike the whole "WoW clone" subject, i like to think that companies have a right to be inspired by whatever they want, but writers and bloggers have a tendency to take that idea for granted a lot of time.
It's kind of funny though, the people outside of the "WoW" circle, love the idea of bringing the Pandarians into the mix, but man.... in WoW, well, people are not so keen on the idea, whenever i look at World chat on the realm i play on, that's all people talk about:
Here's some of the disgruntled comments i see in World chat:
"Panda land?? FUUUU"
"Pandas are gay"
"omg I'm quitting wow now blah blah"
"/Insert stupid Anal + Panda pun"
You know what the current argument is right now? that "Blizzard is in danger of turning World of Warcraft into a Saturday morning cartoon" which is pretty ridiculous argument considering the way the game has always looked, but this is how people are reacting to it.
but on the subject, i registered for beta just in case.

Registered for beta.
Did minor researches:
Each class is divided into 2 kind.
Warrior - Dmg type (High dmg, aoe, stun. Balanced) - Def type (Tanker kind)
Mage - Fire type (Highest dps, cash heavy, easy to die but got shield later on to help) - Ice (Class with the most CC such as slow, freeze and bla. Sadist kind with low dmg [Reminds me of Aion SM]
Summoner - Nanny type (Healer + summoning. Popular and popular among females) - Transformer type (Transform.. One is double headed dragon. Balance dmg and def)
Rogue - Assassin (Didn't check) - Ranger (Same as above)
Monk - ?? (Dunno lol)
-------------
From what I read, this game can be cash heavy depending on how you play it (If keep reborn and refresh your pet for imba stats etc). Still, most classes do not rely on cash too much except for fire mage.
Btw, not trying to break the bubbles but for ALL the forums I venture, there are TOO LITTLE good threads. Most are complains etc.

We're still in the dark about many of the mechanics behind Eligium, the upcoming fantasy MMO from Frogster, but we now know a bit more about who players can be within the context of the world. Two races have been unveiled on the official site: the Human race, with the classes of Warrior and Mage, and the Viridis, who can become Druids. The classes are locked to given races, meaning that each individual class says a great deal about the race as a whole.
Humans are the only race who appears to get two different classes, with Warriors as heavily armored wrecking balls and Mages as long-range purveyors of destruction. The Viridis, meanwhile, are a green-skinned people who formerly studied under the Elves before breaking free and mastering the art of nature magic. The first preview of basic Druid abilities is also available, which should help potential players get an idea of what they want to play when the game starts up.
