This game is completely different in some ways, but will feel similar to BoI in other ways, i mean it's the same franchise, it's going to have a lot of similarities regardless.
First things first, the game does looks better in a lot of ways, but not as good as it could be in other ways - the character models do not represent the more up-to-date environmental art design textures which are definitely better looking then BoI, nothing fancy or anything; pretty much what i guess you would expect from China i suppose, considering their track record with visual technology, but they are better.
My biggest surprise for me personally was the much cleaner-looking UI, for those who remember the MS-paint style of BoI's user-interface and it's gross disorganization that made people's eye's fall out of their sockets, WoI will is a blessing comparatively.
One of the major changes in this game that differs greatly from BoI is acquisition of gear and wealth, it is beyond easy to get great gear and good pet's in this game that it's almost ridiculous, which does make me wonder what the catch 22 for this game is, because i know there will be one, but no one sees it yet, right now the level cap is 50 so it's hard to say where the game's difficulty curve is.
Event's have improved a lot, well, at least some have, some are well... in a testing phase and not everything is translated (Ex: the server-wide Quiz-event) which i won't even maintain as a working event because, uhmm, haha, you'd have to experience it's current state for yourself.
The Magic Academy event has been the highlight of this beta for me so far, it's definitely one of the more original game events and anyone who's playing beta should at least try it once.
The Chinese developers have obviously taken a hard look at what the benefits of dynamic event-based game play have in store, i mean, when you experience some of the mechanics in the game you can tell right away that they are rather new to using features like destructible environments and and object physics, and although it's nice to finally see this sort of thing in a Chinese online game, it also feels like they are Waaaaaaay late to the party, but i have to at least give them points for trying, even if what they are doing in WoI is nothing ground breaking; simply different from what they usually do.
Instance-based dungeons are pretty much the same set-up as BoI, with the exception of some new features to the party interface that others some neat interfacing tools.
Gear is roughly the same, although this time around they pretty much throw it at you freely, i can't really say much due to Soul gear not being available yet due to the current cap restricting higher level content, but that is suppose to change soon.
There is a lot of other things i could talk about that do certainly differ from BoI, but there is an easier way for me to sum things all up briefly.
BoI verse WoI: pre-50 difficulty summery.
Now i have played BoI, a lot of us have, we had a clan in that game, so i recall quite a bit of things about that game, when i think of BoI, and the time i spent there, i can only remember how much of a real hurdle it was getting through the game, even at the beginning, i won't necessarily say it was hard, but it was tedious and "tiring", questing was horribly clunky and nothing felt enjoyable, it really felt like i was crawling through the content rather then being steadily paced through it.
Now not that i have ever felt compelled to enjoy reading the so-called "Stories" these Chinese games try to unwittingly suck me into, because i don't. But WoI seems to have remedied the "new-player presentation" by increasing quest leveling speed by what feels like a 500% increase, i mean you level so quickly in the pre-50 that you don't even notice things like Story, and in the world of Chinese cookie-cutter MMO stories, that may just be a good thing.
So, here's the summery, WoI is so much easier of a game to play then BoI, in every aspect, and i mean every aspect; at least every aspect that currently is available, because granted there is this new pet fusion system (Avatar system) that appears similar to "EuDemons" and looks overly complex -but i won't get in to that since it isn't available yet anyway, but yeah, this game so ridiculously easy to jump in to and play, i actually found myself random PKing with a group of players because i had already outfitted my character with the best gear that the game can currently offer in only a matter of 14 hours, and i haven't had that much fun PvPing since conquer online, and that is saying a lot.
So far by the looks of things everything is pretty balanced and fun actually, then again there is no working cash shop to change the odds in the game yet and again; level cap is only 50, so no one really knows what will happen; though i am sure Jaded BoI players will continue to bash the game.
I am not looking at this game as a long-term game, because i personally have other games to look forward to, but for what it's worth, War of Immortals has at the very least, improved on some of it's BoI failings. I mean there isn't going to be Zodiac pet's this time around, Woohooo.

boi not that hard anyway, both vami and me got to zodiac players and top 2-5 of our class list abet vami did spend around 1-2 thousand or so rl cash to get there and with a short term loan in game from vami and a bit of merchant luck from myself i was a zodiac player as well spending almost no cash hehe.
just be careful not to spend cash later on neo.pw games have a heck of encouraging ppl to spend once the cash mail is in game ^^,that is why kenny quit boi after open beta start and only played during close beta cos cash mail is free during cb lol

Also the thing i noticed about WoI is that it isnt optimized at all ... i have a Quad Core processor with 4 GB ram and a 1 GB ATI 6770 HD ...i can run skyrim on Ultra settings without fps drops and i get no more than 30 fps and 15 fps in populated places in WoI which Graphics are low tier...rofl

It's just like Forsaken World, it's like they are incapable of optimizing anything, but that is just the way it is.
Not that it really matters, this game is only meant to pass time until Lime Odyssey or Diablo 3 comes out, i am not even going to bother with Open beta to be honest.
