| Electronic Arts' and Bioware's highly anticipated Star Wars: The Old Republic will be available this holiday season, but those that pre-order the title starting today will get early access to the MMO. Pre-orders can be filled both through participating retailers and through EA's Origin digital distribution service. Supplies of each are being limited, though, "to ensure a great user experience" and "a thriving online environment" at launch and during a pre-launch early access period for pre-orderers. The game will come in three editions: A $59.99 (£44.99 / €54.99) Standard Edition available in both digital and boxed forms; a $79.99 (£59.99 / €74.99) Digital Deluxe Edition with five downloadable items, and a $149.99 (£129 / €149.99) Collector's Edition that includes a special edition, game world map, soundtrack CD and more. Each edition includes 30 days of free game time. Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia reacted positively to the pre-order details, noting that the holiday release window eliminates the slight risk of a delay into the first quarter of 2012. While Bhatia said he had expected a $50 price for the basic edition of the game, he thinks the higher price "demonstrates EA/BioWare's confidence in the product." Nearly 1.5 million people signed up to beta test the Star-Wars themed MMO as of March, EA said, and Janco analyst Mike Hickey predicted the title would see over a million subscribers in its first year. http://www.swtor.com/preorder/?sourceid=eag3015http://www.swtor.com/news/news-article/20110721can check those link out only issue and its a BIG ISSUE is that only certain region can be allow to pre-order first.then there is the worry about this being a let-down since they seems to be dropping close beta testing and so far none of us have a review for it yet and this worry me a lot.
so i will advise not to pre-order ........ unless we get review/feedback from people in our community i am afraid it could be another ffxiv just more polished..... ^^ so just wait till a few of us experienced the beta test first and give feedback if we get in before ordering heh.If you're one of the many eager players of Star Wars: The Old Republic jumping all over this morning's pre-order, there's more good news on the way. According to TOROcast, an investor report from Electronic Arts shows that the game will be opening up special "beta weekend" events for players to get a glimpse of the game starting in September. This looks like the perfect opportunity for players to start jumping in and playing in advance of the launch date (which presumably would not be until at least a little after September, naturally). While the report doesn't say if these tests will be open or closed, they certainly bring to mind the beta weekends that RIFT popularized, with a limited number of players, but a great deal of freedom in access. Seeing as how these will be tests, however, it's unlikely that this will constitute the early access set forth in the pre-order bonuses -- so if you're looking forward to the game, ordering now is still advisable.

| mmm how do i even get it shipped to singapore. Ordering the limited edition cost a bomb lol, mostly because of the shipping fee to deliver such a huge box from NA to SG... guess i'll just get the regular edition for this one. | |

| i just don't like the fact they asking ppl to preorder before they even have limited open beta test lol.
swtor does look good even tot they seem to prefer to play it safe by selling first before open beta hehe.
but i will try to resist preorder till some of us tested it and post review ^^

| oh i doubt it will happen since we can always buy the digital version online after their website is ready to sell to other regions.although the physical box version might be delay like u say which is a possibility if u are into collection box version.
but if that is the case we can always start in new server IF they really mess up like that heh.
guys if u see any asian region distributor selling already please post to inform.

| SWTOR: No Region IP Block and More Info Revealed < 10 Responses Your Reaction? Date: 08-10-2011 Views: 153 There have been many questions when it comes to region blocks and no SWTOR on initial release to certain areas of the globe. Allison Berryman, Senior Community Coordinator for SWTOR attempted to clear up some of the questions on the official SWTOR forums. In a post from earlier, Berryman explains: Regarding whether the game will block players from some regions by IP address: "Currently, there is no plan to block players from the game by regional IP blocking. Playing on servers physically distant from your location might mean you experience some issues with latency, but at this time we don't plan on blocking players from a region by IP. On a similar note, anyone who pre-orders the game (and redeems their code) would receive the early access that is part of that pre-order." Talking with Videogamer.com, Daniel Erickson says, "At least for myself, nothing short of shipping and actually being successful will alleviate that worry. I've watched this game grow since before day one and as with any creative project you pour your heart into, the mix of anticipation and fear is huge. We'll relax after the game is out, running beautifully and our fans are having a blast." Besides, in an interview with Daniel Erickson, we get more info about SWTOR: It is highly unlikely that there will be a pre-release character creator like the one that was present in Dragon Age and Mass Effect There will be different size raids for different difficulties. It is not yet fully defined what those sizes will be for the bigger raid, but smaller raid will be 8 man No dynamic content in the same sense as in Rift Number of characters per server not defined yet. Guess is that you can have enough to play each class per server, but not yet sure. Kicking people off a cliff in PvP matches Changing character look after you create it (barber shop) – probably not at ship You can have 5 companions on your main character and 5 companions on all your alts and they will all be able to craft at the same time (offline queue) Crafted equipment is what you will need to go into a raid to get the best equipment ever on the server Vanity pets http://news.mmosite.com/content/2011-08-10/swtor_no_ip_block_and_moreinfo_revealed.shtml | |

| Just make sure not to get it from Qishan. They promised and didn't deliver in time the LE Ffxiv last year.

| I agree that for a normal game launch, a 1-2 day delay is acceptable but for MMORPGs, that time translates to much progress in game.
For the case of FFXIV, many who preordered the game from Qishan were players fresh out of the FFXIV beta, and that wait was akin to going cold turkey while the rest of the world was already logging in.
The whole issue with Qishan then was that they specifically promised to deliver before a deadline but couldn't due to one reason or another. This was made worse by another game shop in SG selling actual physical copies of the exact same LE package 2 days before them (on release day)
I wasn't the only disgruntled customer then. I remembered many unhappy faces at the shop when I was there at the shop to finally collect the game. One year down the road, we forget the inconveniences that false promises have caused us, but never the fact that it happened.
I'm not trying to bad mouth Qishan. Just trying to warn others that promised dates weren't kept, and that it might happen again with SWTOR.
