Ragnarok has OFFICIAL f2p server (not some private server)

This was one of the mmos that really got me hooked to mmos
I only played the official server for about 20 days back in my early mmo days, but I sooo loved it and wanted to play more of it

Anyway it was always p2p or private servers
Pirvate servers lacked community, p2p well were p2p XD

Now this official f2p server is bruising with activity (the only part about it is a cash shop but hey it ain't too bad heh)

snow it was for a very long time f2P already
they had a server that you can play free that game i play it back then so 1 year back ^^

Well I started out on Valkyrie server, got to lvl 10 on both dual boxed characters
I started 5 April and 6th came that update, that makes the Yggdrasil server an f2p server aswell

Ygg server is only 6month young, which is really new for an RO server (it's been p2p, and had population problems)
But now that it's going f2p it's the only server that I see chance of being competitive at within any decently low ammount of time (like few months rather then few years)

So I'm rerolling on Ygg server hehe

what class u aiming for?

I want to lvl a full support healer
Doing that can be really tough if you can't find a party, so I'm going to dual client a swordsman on the side

I didn't pick if it ll go knight or crusader yet.

But if you actually pick an attacking class, I could give you the pass to my healer, you could dual client the healer, when I'm not on and I could dual client your attacking class with my healer when you'r not on, that'd make lvling work quite well

Dual client doesn't need anything special, but you have to turn off auto attack for the character to auto follow, since priest isn't attacking anyway it works quite well.

Let me know hehe ^^, if you want to do this, assasins or any job of the swordsman class work great with healer, also monks and the end game class of it are extremly powerfull.
But any attacker is good in combination with full support priest ^^

I wouldn't pick any of the extended classes, since those can't go 3d job so they r capped at lvl 99

If you get in game, try adding --> Windy or Nuts

how u dual client?
good to make 4 char for party then if we both do it?

or best stick to single?

also do range classes need to buy arrows to restock for this game or the arrow is unlimited here?

i am thinking of going archer>sniper>ranger etc

or monk or champion>sura

Yeah the archer class tree and gunslinger use up tons of arrows and bullets, (which r a hassle since you ll have weight probs and additional expenses)

Dual clienting is just starting the client 2x really, nothing is blocking you from doing so.

I personally run both clients in small screens windowed (800x640) I belive
So I can see both toons at the same time.

Dual clienting is quite a hassle, although the beauty of this game, you can actually leave 1 toon wherever you want on the map (like at the entrance) as long as it is in the same map as the other one that is killing stuff, it ll get exp.

Sura is very very strong, but at the same time it's pretty hard to play for a newcomer ^_^
Which isn't a real problem if you actually hit lvl 99 you ll transcend and start from lvl 1 anyway, by then you ll know everything already, so messing up on the 1st playthrough isn't a big deal :P

If you decide to dual client without using a bot for 2nd toon like I'm doing, you ll have to pick a class that's usefull without having to do much.

Examples would be:
Soul linker, it's a pretty usless class on its own, but very very cheap to play since it doesn't use weapon XD, the specialities of a soul linker is, that they have a skill for every class seperately, which is a soul link, it makes a certain skill of the class they'r linked to become amazingly strong (example soul link on a priest makes priests holy light skill do 5x more dmg and cost 5x more sp)

Priest: well later lvls you can get buffs that last decently long, so you can have the priest tag along half afk, and ofcourse if your class can take 1 mob out without dieing, you can use the priest after that to heal it up, so you wont have to rest (swordman type classes or blacksmiths work great with this)

Bard or Dancer could be usefull but I'd preffer grabbing a priest

Other classes would require too much hassle imo to switch between every time, and would really require a bot, which I'm strongly opposed to.

(Philipines Ragnarok has legalized botting, but that's a different story)

since u have a healer as a dual i will skip healer.

will make 2 windows like what u suggest and the following one set as a mule to hold stuff.

since ranged class need more expenses i will go for monk first ^^

i will do some research what stats distribution is good first

If you gonna use a mule, make it a soul linker or merchant (but you do understand the more usless characters in 1 party the less exp the main ones get :p) Exp is still split unless you turn it off, but then your mule ll be so low lvl it ll be pretty usless at some point

Anyway, if you pick soul linker, make it battle type, so he can tank for you if needed, and do some extra dmg.

If you make merchant, they can rent a cart, to carry more, and you could make it a smith to upgrade/craft items with more sucess rate

Alchemist when they turn to biochemists become insanely strong with acid demonstration, but that skill burns millions per hour ^_^ so not a good choice


But like I said if you don't need an alt it might be best to just dual client my priest when I'm offline and party up together when I'm online (that way they ll stay in lvl range of each other) and we can both help each other lvl

The monk would have to be the attacker then though ^_^ (someday turn it into a hell gate sura for doing 30k dmg and quite fast in a row)

I personally wanted to play healer as my main (they'r just too hard to lvl without a party if you go support) that's why I made a personal slave swordie ^^

Yep RO is super complex ^_^

It's fun even if you don't want to min/max really, just that if you didn't min max and actually got high lvl you ll go OMG -__-" why didn't I min/max :P

Anyway if you make a merchant we ll have to drag the merchant along all the time too ^_^

Having one is not a vital point of the game, but it's up to you it's all fun anyway ^^.

Also you ll have to do 2x as many class specific quests when ya have 2 of em running XD

Anyway why I suggested just 2 accounts dual boxed by one of us when the other one is offline (priest+monk)

In party if we both dual client (4 characters) I ll have to play the swordsman for attacking, since swordie is totally usless if it's not played (gives no buffs/nothing) they'r for attacking and or tanking.

So I'd have to have the priest on auto follow, and only heal after each kill or so, meaning when real healing is needed I ll have an usless swordsman standing there XD. (just like the merchant, that ll be sitting there XD)

Why I suggested the soul linker, as a dual boxed toon (1st of all it doesn't have to transcend, saving you trouble of doing 2 transcendances) and 2nd it is a toon that's super usefull while on auto follow LOL

When soul linked (for example to priest, like I said before priests Holy Light ll do 5x more dmg that's crazy dmg ^^) And the soul linker doesn't need (can not use) weapons, making it rather cheap in use.

But then again before taekwon lvl 45 the soul linker would be sitting there leeching exp too nevertheless ^_^

In fact a soullinker, would make tripple boxing viable, since you could have the monk on attack, soul linker perma linked on him and perma follow, and the priest on follow for heals n buffs.

Another thing why a merchant isn't that needed, is. If you have a good combat setup, farming rare cards/materials will net you a bigger amount of zenny then a merchant could ever make ^_^

Here is the effect of soul link on a Monk

Requirement: None Summon the spirit of history`s toughest Monk and temporarily endow its powers upon a targeted Monk. The Soul Link enhances the Monk`s Raging Thrust skill so that it inflicts splashed damage on enemies within a 5*5 cell area. Monk Spirit also enables Monks to use combo skills with reduced SP consumption and to restore SP during Fury status.

Here on a Priest

Requirement: Lvl 1 Monk Spirit Summon the spirit of history`s most pious Priest and endow its abilities upon the Priest targeted by this skill. For the skill`s duration, the targeted Priest`s Holy Light skill will have its Attack Power and SP cost multiplied by five.

Now ofcourse, if we go with 4 characters, I should drop the swordsman probably.

In such case having a bard + dancer combination combined with monk + priest could be very interesting, but bard & dancer require way more maintenance then example SL

If I roll a soullinker instead of swordsman, I'd have to tripple box your monk whenever you'r offline, because I wouldn't have an attacker otherwise.

That brings me back to the point why both having 1 but dual boxing both when one of us is offline, is the most viable option

Because quadruple boxing without botting is just too insanely un-human and would require you to have 4 arms and 2 heads

And why it is best to always have both in party, is to stay in lvl range of each other at all times, that way both toons could go to exact same locations at any given time, and wouldn't grow out of exp aquiring range from each other.

Monk + Priest (is best option)
Monk + Priest + Soullinker (is only really viable/usefull option if we want to run all our characters at the same time by 1 person)

tested the game with snow.

overall a very enjoyable game to spend time with friends.

its only soso if u solo but much more fun in a party with friends.

snow and me will be playing this a while so if anyone else is bored and never play ro before u are welcome to join us on the ygg server heh.

getting used to using click to move again just after a few hours ^^.

oh and we will be taking a break from ro when close beta of prius is here on april 28.if we get in cb that is ^^,then play again when cb for prius is over lol

after playing for 3 days i get the feeling if they have redone the mini maps to make it more detail,add in auto loot and targeting monster tabs and add in wasd together with click to move,this game can actually beat many of the new mmorpg games now on the market just by huge content and features it have.after playing this i cant wait for ro2 to come out sooner heh.
