Gaming addiction and gaming violence are universal
problems to both parents and the government. But Vietnamese government's
action to tackle gaming problem is quite resolute but controversial.
Starting from March 3rd, gamers in Vietnam may not be able to play
online games at night as the government has asked internet service
providers to block access to online games during that from 10pm to 8am
of the next day.
According to report, the "order" was made due to the government's
concern of negative impact that online games may have to children and
young people. What's more, the government will monitor the internet
during the curfew. Any service provider that opens the internet to the
public during the prohibited time will face license cancelation. It's
foreseeable that if this happens, not only thousands of gamers but also
the MMO publishers will be in rage.
