| My gaming rig hardly gets to workout its 'muscles' with that spec. I was hoping this P2P title would yell 'directx 11', but an that's wishful thinking for an mmo. | |

Yeah, my thoughts exactly, considering what kind of upgrade people are on average looking at here, especially those players coming directly from Final Fantasy XI; it realistically will get tuned down to 256 vram for recommended settings, 512 is still quite a lot for even today's MMO games, it's only there to handle the AA/AAA/AF Modifying and for some games, a full screen of players casting spells.
Single-player PC titles are a completely different story, for most major PC titles 512 is pretty much the standard now, as 1gb is like the recommended for those heavy duty games out there.

| actually enix already mention the req for ffxiv will be high a few months before.
so even if they tune it down the lowest req,it will most likely still be around 1gb-1.5gb ram
and recommend req will probably be around 2gb or more,so what neo posted is prob near to what the final recommended spec of the pc requirement for ffxiv.
no way they can set it too low, since their goal is to make long lasting mmo.so their target spec will be aim for the long run is my guess.
just buy a good pc like evo did if your current pc cant handle it.1-2 gb ram is already consider very little in the current latest pc setup.

I meant to comment on this Evo but i forgot.
I wouldn't jump the gun so soon on FF14 not utilizing a Dx11 model build, cause Dungeons & Dragons Online uses a partial build from Dx10 for stencil shadows and Dynamics lights and DDO is almost 4 years old now, so even if the Crystal Tools engine uses only part of Dx11, it'll still be pretty to look at.
The only thing i doubt they'll want to use so soon is Dx11's new shader technology, and maybe some of the more advanced physics, like Real-time Light&Shadow Dynamics, which is what Blade and Soul's engine is using.
