The Rose Bush Riddle

Once upon a time there was an evil wizard that kidnapped 3 women and he transformed them into rose bushes that couldn't talk, move, or do anything at all. One of the women's husband confronted the wizard and begged him to have his wife back. The wizard agreed that the man would have his wife back the next morning, but not have her turned back into her original form when he gives her back. The man agreed and the wizard took the rose bush that's the man's wife into his home so he wouldn't forget to bring her with him to the man. The man being impatient, decided to rescue his wife the next afternoon unknowing that he wizard put the man's wife back where she was with the other rose bushes. The man was looking for his wife persistently when he came across the rose bushes. He kept looking at the roses to tell which one was his wife. Suddenly he figure out which rose bush was his wife and he took her home. How did the man find out which rose bush was his wife?

asuming the roses are in the ground not in pots... it would be the one that had the soil disturbed around it.
