Dragon Ball fans rejoice, Netmarble Korea has announced that Open Beta will start in a couple of weeks from now. If you are eager to try out Dragon Ball Online before Open Beta, you will have a chance to check it out at the early stress test held on January 9th, 2010. If you can't make it, then you will have to just wait until January 14th, 2010 for the Open Beta. The dates may change depending on how the stress test goes, but at least foreign gamers have a new MMORPG to get their hands on early 2010.

Dragon Ball Online will kick off the final closed beta on January 9th from 12AM to 4AM (EST). The open beta will be hold on Jan 14th in Korea. It's announced that the open beta test will include 95% of the full game content. But for most of us who are not Korean it won't be easy to participate. A 15+ Netmarble account and a KSSN is necessary.
Dragon Ball Online - Battle Royale
Dragon Ball Online's world is set in 216 years after the story of the Dragon Ball manga series but there are Time Petrol Trunks that helps you travel through time. The game has 3 races, they are Human, which includes 3 classes: Martial Artists, Spiritualist, and Engineer, Namekian, which includes 2 classes: Dragon Clan and Warrior, and Majin, which includes Strange Majin and Large Majin.

Though CJ Internet stated that the servers they prepared for the DBO(Dragon Ball Online) OPEN BETA would be able to host the large number of players who would attend the beta test, an emergency server maintenance has been conducted for some problems caused by big server stress. This maintenance would last 7 hours. (Screenshots Source: dbocom.com)
While not publicly available yet, we've managed to get our hands on the client for the open beta. Inside the game's files we were able to find things that we're able to reveal to you now before even Netmarble themselves.
Most importantly would be the Engineer class... it's not in here. We'll also start out being constricted to the same 7 zones that we we have been since the first beta. They have mentioned that all of the new content would not be released all at once, so don't expect that to be all there will be.
It's still likely that the Engineer will eventually be included in the game. All prior Engineer data that was in the earlier versions of the client is still in this version but, unless this is only the client for the reliance test, it seems like the Engineer will not be playable at the beginning of the open beta. The current client version is 0.90.1, up from version 0.70 in the third beta.
What we can show you though is some hints at what kind of DB content we'll be playing through:
The private open beta tester forum will be opened up later today and the client has been made available to download here. If you have an account that is able to play in the beta, but you cannot see the open beta forum then please read this thread.
For information on when the game will be playable: refer to this thread.
As in the last beta, we will have an official DBOCOM guild. Expect the guild to be up sometime during the first week of the open beta. At the time of this post there are currently over 60 people able to play in the open beta at DBOCOM and I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone in-game. For everyone who won't be in the beta: check back for screenshots and videos posted by those who will be.
Update: There will be an event from January 11th, 12AM EST to the opening of the beta in which you will be able to create your character in advance for the open beta. The purpose of this event is only to allow players to reserve their character's names and the game will not be playable during this time. It was also announced that there will be three servers forthe open beta. Which server we'll be playing on will be announced at a later time.

Recently, Dragon Ball Online which is undergoing open beta testing in Korea has updated two main systems: the Dragon Ball Collection System and Super Saiyan System. The Dragon Ball Collection Event held in the beginning of OBT has now been integrated as one of the important game systems to tell the story in the original comics together with the Budokai Tenkaichi and Time Machine Quest System. The collection system allows players to gather 7 Dragon Balls to summon Shenron and gain various wonderful rewards.
However, differing from other systems, the Dragon Ball Collection System doesn't give out relevant quests along with the development of storyline, instead, it requires players to get Dragon Balls through slaying specific monsters on the weekends. Furthermore, some special items in the original comics will also appear in the game, such as the Dragon Ball Rader, and the Dragon Ball Rader Chip that can be equipped on the scooter. With the help of these items, players will be able to find Dragon Balls more easily.
Shenron will show up as long as players have collected all Dragon Balls, and then they can make a wish to obtain considerable rewards, including ultimate HTB Skills, subsidiary weapons and other advanced items. Moreover, players can learn morph skills that may help them transform into Super Saiyans or pure Majins.

Heads up, Dragonball manga fans. Dragonball Online is now in open beta, and if you're willing to fiddle a bit with your PC gaming rig (or you're fluent in Mandarin), you can check out the game's Taiwanese client.
Fansite Dbocom is providing an English translation patch for the game's UI (though you'll still be at the mercy of your Mandarin skills when it comes to NPC names, quest descriptions, and the like).
Dragonball Online, which is being developed by NetMarble, takes place 216 years after the conclusion of the Dragonball manga series. Player characters are responsible for repairing various "cracks in time" while playing through a game under the creative control of original Dragonball artist Akira Toriyama.
shu:still no english client yet so back to waiting ^^

This game is actually pretty damn fun, and despite there being a language barrier, I'm still enjoying this a lot, and theirs a lot of English players on the Bulma server, and the DBO Community does help make the questing and general game-play go smoother, plus they have a working English patch - downside is it only fully translates the UI, but that's quite a bit of translating.
Coupled with the DBO community helping and the English patch, i barely notice that this game version is not in English.
