2nd anime apocalypse...

Well, if the megaupload apocalypse somehow affected your anime needs, then this time you will be, at least temporarily, annoyed to the point of going on a fking rampage breaking everything around you...
Japan considers anime a prime export product and they clearly dont like piracy so they are launching a mega massive operation on august 1.

Here is the info taken from crunchyroll:
In cooperation with 15 major anime production companies and manga publishers, the Japanese government will next month start a huge extermination operation against 580 foreign sites which have illegally uploaded anime and manga contents on the web without the copyright holders' permission, NHK reported on July 28. While the government has started supporting the genre as one of their important cultural exports, there appears to be no end of illegal uploading of anime and manga via pirate sites, mainly operated by Chinese. The Cultural Affairs Agency estimates the loss caused by the Chinese pirate sites last year was amounted to at least 560 billion yen (about US$ 5.5 billion).

On August 1, the government will start simultaneously sending requests to delete illegal anime and manga contents to the operators of the 580 foreign pirate sites which they have found. In addition, the operation will launch a new site to guide the fans to a legitimate site offering some 250 titles including the latest ones at a cost of several hundred yen.

So, nyaa (source for torrents) and animetake (source for direct downloads) are included in the list.
That leaves me with legal streaming websites... but they have limited anime shows available and some of them are even IP-blocked simply because I live in south america... F### YOU JAPAN!

Last time file hosting sites were affected by the mega-apocalypse which affected anime uploads but this time even the middlemen (nyaa,at,etc) are being affected as well, this fkin sucks...
If they succeed, I bet it will take weeks before everything is back to normal. I'm gonna fill up my external hd just in case.

The anonymous owner of AT e-mailed the staff memebrs simply telling them he received a court summon and that the site is being shut down permanently.
Members of the staff redirected all AT members to 3 sites:
http://horriblesubs.info/  (most of the stuff usually posted in AT is also posted here) (has torrent and direct downlod links)

http://haruhichan.com/page/front.html  (only torrents, similar site to AT, also has a forum)

http://www.nyaa.se/  (this is the source for most anime posted on the internet these days) (torrents only, not organized, no forum)

The remnants of the AT staff are now working on a new website. Ill post the url here as soon as possible.

Update: AnimeTake is back... but its not the same anymore.
Now it's called "AnimuTank" and people there no longer upload anything. Now it's all about news and giving old AT users a new forum to keep the community alive.
