The developers behind one of the most successful bots for Warcraft have been sued and eventually lost the case.

PiroxBots has been legally prohibited and with the date of January 25, 2012 PvP tool will be no longer available for use.

This will most likely cause a decreased in Warcraft playerbase, since plenty of players were using their bots such as Honorbuddy and Gatherbuddy for either farming or leveling purposes on a daily basis.

Due to legal reasons, they haven't given out much information on this
issue, but it is highly likely that they lost the case and were reached
by U.S. law somehow, even though they reside in Germany.

The bot customer base was informed about this, via the official website.

On the official Pirox site, this announcement can be found

There was even news posted by one of the developers, regarding the meeting between the bot developers and Activision Blizzard in Germany.

"By the time that Activision Blizzard had a trip to Germany, to meet at least 3 Bot Devs, one of them was Pirox ( July 2011 ).

Other than us, Pirox was ready to talk with Blizzard about an settlement, and as it seems they finally agreed the conditions.

settlement was about stopping Pirox to work, not about personal details
of users, that means there is no data going to Blizzard.

As of this was confidential, i could not have talked about it, unless it turns into public news."

At this time, it's unknown whether it is enough for Activision
Blizzard to make the bots stop functioning or they will go for more.

For a gonna-die-game, taking out bots means losing players. Simple cents.

Either way, that pretty much answers why there are bots in iRO. Lol.

If you cannot win at the game, if you cannot solve the puzzle, you are just a loser.
