MMORPG Scheduled for Simultaneous Global Release on the PLAYSTATION 3 and Windows

LOS ANGELES (June 2, 2009) — Square Enix Co., Ltd. (Square Enix), announced that FINAL FANTASY XIV, an all new massively-multiplayer role-playing game (MMORPG), is planned for simultaneous global release with language support in Japanese, English, French and German.

Adventure begins anew in the vast realm of Eorzea!

Well FFXIV is not something you should compare to FFVII but rather to FFXI since that's the only FF online so far.
FFXIV will be an up to date FFXI

Build on Crystal Eye engine, which means awesome up to date graphics.
Also knowing the features of XI, the fact that they learned from their faults and sucesses with it, and that these guys been working on XIV for quite a while now it will be an mmo worth of playing for years ^_^

Lots of content, party play and the long term game i have been craving!

Square-Enix has just announced at their press conference that characters from FFXI cannot be transferred to FFXIV. Hopefully this can put all speculation of this ridiculous idea to rest.

Q: Will FFXI characters be portable to XIV in any way?

A: The game is completely different. There will not be any XI character transfers to XIV. However, the character design is familiar and XI players will be able to create a similar character.

And they also considering having FFXVI in xbox 360 at a later date as well.

so anyway it will be a clean game from the start.all will start at same starting point.just the way we like it hehe

If...If....If....FF is scheduled for early 2010, i won't be buying Aion..
If i buy a p2p game, it's going to be a game i'll be playing for a long time. Not just a few weeks. :)

So if it's just a few months for example like 3-4, buying aion would be a waste of cash. As FF would really be the game i would want to play.

So if it's early, 2010+ will be SC+FF for me. :)
